   It’s hard to imagine someone living in America who is of age yet has never fallen into debt. That’s almost like saying you’ve never went to McDonalds.
   However, in that respect you should be glad to be un-American.

   Thanks for your comment. I actually do live in America – New Mexico, to be exact.

   I have fallen into debt before, putting groceries on a credit card when I was about to starve. It only took me three months to pay it off completely (being unemployed at the time, nonetheless).

   I simply have never fallen into the trap of “free money” or taking out loans (which is what a credit card is) for things I know I cannot afford. I understand a lot of people make this mistake, but I have not, so I do not think I am qualified to talk about it. That’s all I meant.

   Unfortunately we are not really taught important stuff like proper budgeting and the perils of being on the wrong side of compound interest (as in debt) while at school.

   A great (and timeless) little book that I have read time and time again is ‘The Richest Man in Babylon’by George S.Glason – I believe if IT was taught in schools, the simple ideas and financial principles would revolutionize most people’s lives.
